How Does Wind Power Work

Global Wind Power

Go Green. That's what everyone is saying nowadays. But is it really enough when all our machines run on fossil fuel?

A new source of power is needed to fully Go Green. In the olden days, the wind was used to power ships on long voyages.

Nowadays, the wind can be tapped as a source of power and as an alternative to fossil fuels.

Global wind power has been developed in different countries and has been encouraged as an alternative way of producing power without adding more harm to our already damaged earth.

The process is done by converting the wind energy to become a helpful form of energy by utilizing wind turbines to produce electricity is known as wind power. Global wind power is, at present, the best alternative to fossil fuels.

Global wind power is highly encouraged in every part of the world. The reason is because, global wind power does not use up fuel, and emits no pollution, unlike the power sources from fossil fuels.

How does global wind power work?

Wind energy comes from wind turbines. These are tall structures with three long blades. The wind spins the blades that turn a shaft, that is connected to a generator which in turn produces electricity.

There are wind farms that have tens to hundreds of wind turbines erected together in a windy spot. The biggest wind turbines can produce enough electricity to supply to some 600 homes in the U.S. Smaller wind turbines can also be installed in a backyard, and can produce enough power for a single home.

A large wind farm that consist of hundreds of wind turbines are linked to the generator of electric power transmission. Usually, wind farms are situated offshore to harness better wind speeds. That is why the contribution of power from offshore wind farms are much higher compared to the electricity supplied from the land wind farms.

Global wind power is actually the answer to solving the high cost of fuel, air, and water pollution. Wind is a clean source of energy that is why wind power do not produce air and water pollution. Also, the operational costs of global wind power is almost none, once the turbine is erected, because wind is free!

Many governments encourage this kind of technology by offering tax incentives to motivate the development of wind energy. in many jurisdictions, wind energy have been financially supported and encouraged for its developments. There are subsidies, tax credits, other tax benefits such as the accelerated depreciation, property tax exemption, mandated purchases, and additional “green credits” market.

Also, companies that use wind power can claim that they strongly support the “green” effort. In return, they also get some tax incentives from the government.  There are also certain companies that pay some utility companies a premium to subsidize and build new wind farms or wind power infrastructures.  An organization called the Green-e, is being used to monitor the businesses who comply with the renewable energy credits.

With all these incentives for using global wind power, hopefully, a global wind power will be able to replace the traditional way of generating power. When this becomes a reality, then we can really Go Green.
